Pharmacies sign up to green energy provider

Almach Energy, a provider of affordable, green energy to UK businesses, has been increasing its presence within the community pharmacy sector.

The company, which is dedicated to buying only 100 per cent renewable energy directly from the wholesale market, has negotiated energy contracts with 570 pharmacies, including those operated by large pharmacy groups such as Paydens, Lindsay & Gilmour and Kampsons.

These energy contracts have not only prevented around 5,000 tonnes of CO2 from being released into the environment, but also helped pharmacy businesses to save considerable amounts of money on energy bills, helping their bottom line.

As a large buying group working closely with renewable energy suppliers, Almach Energy is able to negotiate green energy cost premiums down to less than one per cent of the overall cost, making switching to green energy a viable economic option for UK businesses, as well as a smart one for the planet and future generations.

Juan Pablo Cerda, managing director of Almach Energy said: “Following on from the landmark Paris agreement in late 2015 – an agreement by 196 countries on the reduction of climate change – more and more businesses are realising the inevitability of the trend towards and urgent need for a low carbon economy.

“Large corporations are increasingly committed to 100 per cent renewable energy and are pressuring their own supply chains to follow suit. It has become a business imperative to have a strong environmental policy and CSR (corporate and social responsibility) standards and to be implementing measures now to reduce the environmental impact of your business.”
