PocDoc signs deal with 55 GP practice sites

PocDoc’s Healthy Heart Check will now be available across more than 55 GP practie sites serving over 500,000 patients as part of an agreement with Modality Partnership, one of the UK’s largest NHS GP super-partnerships.

The agreement will give Modality’s clinical teams unlimited access to the check under a single annual arrangement, which the company says removes the per-test cost barrier, making it easier to offer checks based on clinical need.

Using a fingerprick blood sample and a smartphone or tablet, the Healthy Heart Check provides a cholesterol profile and supports assessment of body mass index, NHS heart age and 10-year cardiovascular risk. The company explains that results are available in minutes and are integrated back into the patient record in real time.

Asked about the accuracy of the test and the evidence supporting its use in primary care, Vital Signs Solutions Ltd, the manufacturer, advised Pharmacy Magazine that cholesterol test accuracy is judged by total analytical error and that the NHS adopts the US National Cholesterol Education Program (NCEP) goals, which set total analytical error limits of 9% for total cholesterol, 13% for HDL and 15% for triglycerides.

It said PocDoc’s technology met these requirements in two major studies. One used venous blood (Roest et al, 2024, a peer-reviewed paper co-authored by PocDoc staff). The other used fingerprick capillary blood and has been submitted for publication and is under review.
