NHS England is looking to ease winter pressures on general practice and A&E by encouraging people to access health advice from local pharmacies at an early stage of illness. The 'Feeling under the weather' campaign recognises the value that community pharmacy can bring to the NHS, especially when dealing with common ailments that are particularly prevalent over winter.
The campaign is aimed predominantly at the over 60s and will run for six weeks between October and December. By increasing the number of older people accessing health advice from local pharmacies at an early stage of illness, the campaign aims to reduce the pressure on the urgent and emergency care system, particularly A&E departments.
