Fultium Daily D3 is a new vitamin D supplement from Thornton & Ross, available exclusively from pharmacies.
It has been formulated specifically to meet the Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition's (SACN) and Public Health England's new recommended guidelines on vitamin D intake. The new guidelines advise that everyone in the UK aged 1 year and over requires 10mcg/400IU of vitamin D daily and 8.5mcg-10mcg/340IU-400IU daily for infants under 1 year, particularly during the winter months.
Given the difficulty in obtaining vitamin D from dietary sources alone, the new guidelines present pharmacy with an excellent opportunity to recommend an OTC supplement, says the company.
Fultium Daily D3 is available in capsules (10mcg/400IU) and drops (five drops per day [8.5mcg] for infants under one year old; six drops per day [10mcg] for those aged over one year). Oil-based formulations like Fultium improve the bioavailability of vitamin D compared to standard compressed powder tablets, says Thornton & Ross.
In-store marketing support, advertising campaigns, sales aids and merchandising will support the launch from January 2017. An e-learning module for pharmacy teams (pictured) can be accessed by clicking here.
Fultium Daily D3 is available in packs of 30s (rsp £3.99), 60s (rsp £7.49), 90s (rsp £10.99) and 15ml drops (rsp £7.99).
