The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) has announced it is working with NHS England and Health Education England (HEE) as a delivery partner to provide training for a new group of clinical pharmacists based in general practices following this week's announcement of the new £15m scheme by NHS England.
CPPE will be delivering the training both online and face-to-face with residential courses, study days, small group learning sets and self-directed study as factors in the pathway provision. Each intake of 30 trainees will start their pathway with a four-day residential boot camp, with sessions on leadership, medicines optimisation in practice, consultation skills and medical examination techniques.
CPPE will work with other partners such as HEE's local education and training boards, specialist pharmacy groups, Royal Pharmaceutical Society, United Kingdom Clinical Pharmacy Association, Pharmacy Voice and higher education institutions to provide a range of connected study days.
€This is a significant moment in the training and development of a new generation of clinical pharmacists based in general practice, with a focus on patient-facing services and medicines optimisation,€ commented CPPE director Professor Christopher Cutts.
