Anil Sharma, owner of Petersfield Pharmacy in Cambridgeshire, has become the 1,000th member of Alphega Pharmacy in the UK.

€With seven pharmacies in the business it is very difficult to give them all the attention they deserve,€ says Anil, €but thanks to the support of Alphega Pharmacy, they are set to flourish.€Since opening his first pharmacy with his wife Geeta in 2005, Anil has built up a business of seven pharmacies across Cambridgeshire, Hertfordshire and Suffolk. The Sharmas are now benefiting from the insight and experience of Alphega Pharmacy business mentors and looking forward to a bright future of providing profitable services.

The flagship store, Petersfield Pharmacy in Petersfield, Cambridge, has recently been refitted with Alphega Pharmacy branding, and some cutting-edge services have been developed. These include an exclusive 'Road to Health' health assessment service in conjunction with PruHealth, as well as NHS health checks, a minor ailments service, weight management with Lipotrim, chlamydia screening and EHC. The pharmacy also offers a prescription collection service from all 22 local GP surgeries.

This coming year Petersfield Pharmacy is launching a travel clinic, offering travel vaccinations and holiday health advice, and is also set to become the first pharmacy in Cambridgeshire to offer a full sexual health screening service.

Anil is confident that Alphega Pharmacy membership will help him achieve his aims of increasing footfall and becoming known as a local health service provider. €In this current NHS climate you have to move with the times,€ he says. €You can't stand still and wait for prescriptions that pay you less and less to supply. To survive, pharmacies have to be proactive and I see membership of the Alphega Pharmacy network as the way to do this.€
