The NPA has revealed details of its National Innovation Programme.
A series of pilots in eight sites across England, funded by the trade association, is seeking to demonstrate to commissioners what pharmacists can deliver across range of clinical conditions and pathways, and develop successful cases for commissioning investment.
NHS transformation lead, James Roach, explained that the plan is to develop clinical, operational and business models that add value to local health systems “but also work for individual contractorsâ€. The aim is to redirect funding that is not being spent efficiently in areas including hypertension management, urgent care triage and hospital discharge, he said.
