Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust has launched two new support services in response to increasing demand during the Covid-19 pandemic.
This includes a brand new one-on-one cervical cancer support service for anybody affected by a cervical cancer diagnosis, including patients, partners and adult family members. Individuals can speak to support service advisors via phone, video call or email and receive up to six sessions of personalised support, lasting up to 60 minutes each. Those interested can complete an online sign up form and one of the charity's team will be in touch to arrange their first session.
In addition, the charity’s phone helpline has also been extended to include email, offering individuals more choice on how to receive the charity’s free and confidential advice.
Rebecca Shoosmith, head of support services at Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, said: “As a result of the pandemic we sadly had to stop our face-to-face services with our support events and hospital support service unable to continue. Our other services were still in high demand and those coming to us were very anxious, with many affected by changes to tests and treatments. We have also seen changes in how people want to access services, for example, many have less privacy in their homes at the moment."
"We now have the option to email our Helpline instead of calling and a new one-on-one virtual service for those living with and beyond cervical cancer to provide emotional and practical support at this extremely difficult time. These new services will give our community more options, more flexibility, and ultimately better support which is more needed than ever.”
