Key practice developments in 2024

This CPD module provides an update of the major developments in community pharmacy practice during 2024. Areas covered include the new Pharmacy First service in England, other new pharmacy services and contract updates, policy changes, NICE guidance and drug safety alerts.

After completing this module you will be able to reflect on some of the key clinical and practice developments of the past year and how these have impacted on patient care. The module will enable you to identify ways in which you can adapt and improve your services based on these developments.

  • The first ever joint BTS/SIGN/NICE Guideline on managing chronic asthma was published
  • NICE approved several digital technologies that support patients living with long-term conditions
  • A new Repeat Prescribing Toolkit was produced by RPS and RCGP aiming to improve safety and reduce overprescribing. 

This year was another busy one with community pharmacy continuing to be the first point of contact for many patients as a range of significant practice and clinical developments took place.
