CMPA symptoms

There are two types of CMPA that differ depending on how the immune system reacts. The symptoms can be caused by immunogloblin E (IgE), or due to a different part of the immune system reacting in another way; non immunogloblin E (non-IgE).

Immunoglobulin E (IgE) mediated responses occur quickly, usually within 20-30 minutes, and up to 2 hours after ingestion. Non-IgE mediated symptoms are typically delayed, between 2 and 72 hours from ingestion.19

Being aware of the different symptoms and how they can appear at different times may help you to understand what might be linked to CMPA when discussing any concerns with parents.
