Derbyshire pharmacy group bolsters its portfolio with acquisition

A pharmacy group based in Derbyshire that has over 140 pharmacies has added three more to its portfolio.

Peak Pharmacy, which was founded in 1981 and also owns an online pharmacy, acquired Shires Pharmacies Limited and its businesses Springs Pharmacy, Shire Pharmacy (pictured) and Market Pharmacy for an undisclosed fee.

According to Christie and Co who brokered the sale, the pharmacies “benefit from standard hours contracts and above average dispensing volumes.”

Christie and Co said the Shires directors decided to sell to focus on semi-retirement and their two remaining pharmacies in South Yorkshire.

“From the outset, Shires Pharmacies Limited generated strong interest, with several group offers received, further endorsing the fact there is a continued appetite for well-performing pharmacies across the region,” said Carl Steer, director-medical at Christie and Co.
