CYSTITIS: TREATMENT AND MANAGEMENT

A guide for the pharmacy

Cystitis is a common term used to describe a urinary tract infection (UTI) affecting the bladder.1 Almost half of all women will experience cystitis during their lifetime.2

The Pharmacy First (PF) service has made accessing treatment for uncomplicated UTIs easier, and may mean that more women are visiting pharmacies for advice and support. It is important that pharmacy teams know about the management of cystitis whether or not customers are eligible for the service. This is especially true as 51% of the population still face obstacles when it comes to getting the healthcare they need.3
