The Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education has launched a Digital healthcare learning gateway, giving pharmacists and technicians access to a range of external learning modules on digital technology and clinical informatics.
The NHS 10 Year Health Plan for England emphasises the move from analogue to digital, and pharmacy professionals are increasingly expected to adopt digital solutions such as electronic prescribing, electronic patient records and clinical decision support tools.
The CPPE says its digital healthcare gateway aligns with the Health and Care Digital Capabilities Framework and helps learners explore how digital systems and informatics shape everyday pharmacy practice.
The gateway is suitable for all pharmacy professionals and learning can be completed at an individual’s own pace. Ultimately, the gateway aims to empower professionals to embed digital best practice for the benefit of patients, teams and the wider health system, says the CPPE.
"As the use of technology in healthcare continues to grow rapidly, it is essential that the pharmacy workforce is equipped with the digital skills and capabilities needed to effectively use these technologies in practice," says Rahul Singal, chief pharmacy and medicines information officer for NHS England.
“To support this transformation, the national NHS England pharmacy digital workforce task and finish group is pleased to have collaborated with CPPE to create the online digital learning gateway. We strongly encourage all pharmacy professionals to explore and engage with the gateway as a valuable resource to support their development of essential digital competencies."
