We are looking for the Best Independent Community Pharmacy Healthcare Innovation of 2014. The winner of this prestigious accolade will be invited to next year's glittering SMART Awards at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on February 12.
The award, presented in association with the NPA, is designed to acknowledge outstanding practice, workforce engagement and positive outcomes arising from an independent pharmacy healthcare initiative.
So if you're an independent pharmacist who's made a difference in your local community, done something truly innovative and improved patient outcomes, let us know.

SMART Conference
Meanwhile the programme and speaker line-up has been announced for next year's SMART Conference, also to be held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole during the day of February 12.
The theme of the conference is 'OTC medicines: protecting your brand'. Aimed primarily at product/brand managers, senior marketing executives, and communication and training agencies, the conference will provide the necessary tools, market intelligence and information to enable manufacturers to stay one step ahead of the game.
Speakers include:
- Keynote: Dan Germain, head of creative at healthy drink manufacturer innocent
- Brian Moore, global retail analyst and chief executive of EMR-Namnews
- Tim Brooks, founder of growth and strategy consultancy Muzeable
- Chris Cutts, director of CPPE
We will also be revealing the results of a major survey by Pharmacy Magazine into OTC medicines training and education €“ information that will directly impact the way that consumer healthcare companies develop this aspect of their business. Areas covered include:
- Is enough training support provided by pharmacy employers?
- What kind of training achieves the best results?
- Are training materials from OTC manufacturers up to scratch?
- Do pharmacists set an active enough lead in training their teams?
- What could be done to streamline sales protocols?
- Are medicines counter assistants 'put off' by branded training material?
