RPS ‘thinking about’ launching professional indemnity cover

The Royal Pharmaceutical Society is “thinking about launching” a professional indemnity service and is seeking members’ views on the idea.

The RPS emailed members this morning (May 31) with a link to a survey asking them where they currently get their indemnity cover and gauging their interest in purchasing indemnity from the Society if it launches the service.

The survey does not offer much detail on the type of service the RPS is considering, and does not reveal whether any indemnity service would be open to all pharmacists or only to existing RPS members.

A potential RPS professional indemnity service would compete with those offered by the Pharmacists’ Defence Association and National Pharmacy Association.

An RPS spokesperson told Pharmacy Network News: “We often consult our members about the products and services we, and other organisations, provide as part of our work to continuously improve our membership offer.

“We welcome feedback from our members and look forward to hearing their views on professional indemnity provision within pharmacy.”
