Pharmacist Support, the profession’s independent charity, is marking its 185th anniversary this month with a renewed call for the profession to come together and strengthen support for pharmacists, students and trainees.
The charity’s long-standing partner, the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) currently donates £1 per member, but is doubling that for every new and renewing member who joins the PDA over the next month.
Since the partnership began in 2017, the PDA and its members have donated more than £342,000 to help fund essential services for those facing challenging times.
Danielle Hunt, chief executive of Pharmacist Support, said: “Every day we hear from people across our pharmacy family who are navigating pressure, uncertainty and personal challenges. Our role is to be there when it matters most — providing support, reassurance and a safe space to talk.
“As we mark our anniversary, we’re incredibly grateful for the continued support of the PDA, our other partners and supporters across the wider profession. Their commitment helps ensure that no one has to face difficult times alone.”
Mark Koziol, chair of the PDA, said: “The PDA is doubling its regular donation for members who join or renew for the next month to £2 per member. It is time for other pharmacy organisations to join us in making a substantial financial contribution.”
Pharmacist Support relies on charitable donations to provide its services and has set a target of raising £1 million over four years to sustain and grow its support for the profession. The charity is encouraging individuals and organisations to show their support by making a donation.
