The launch of a new OTC analgesic is being supported by an NPA-accredited digital learning module.
Combogesic is a powerful and fast-acting oral analgesic that can be used by adults aged 18 years and over for the management of mild to moderate pain.
The e-learning module can be accessed via the Training Matters and Pharmacy Magazine websites. It covers areas including the important role pharmacy teams play
in helping customers to manage their pain needs, best practice when selling OTC painkillers and being confident in recommending Combogesic by understanding its features and benefits.
The module also looks at key customer interaction points, such as when to refer to the pharmacist. While the training is aimed at healthcare assistants, pharmacists and pharmacy technicians can also use it, both for their own CPD requirements and to train their pharmacy teams.
Customer scenarios highlight the NICE ‘step up’ approach to managing mild to moderate pain and how Combogesic represents an important new solution by combining ibuprofen and paracetamol for stronger pain relief.
After completing the module, healthcare assistants will be able to advise customers on the benefits Combogesic offers – such as the fact that it is claimed to deliver 30 per cent more pain relief than either ibuprofen or paracetamol on its own, and that its simple dosing regimen reduces the risks of over- or under-dosing.
A certificate of completion can be downloaded and assistants’ personal learning logs will automatically be updated once the training has been completed.
