Charity walk raises over £5,000 for Pharmacist Support

Thirteen fundraisers have raised more than £5,000, including Gift Aid, for Pharmacist Support through the charity's Walk for Wellbeing: 97 for 97 challenge.

Pharmacists, pharmacy students and retired pharmacists took part throughout September, each walking 97km or completing 97,000 steps and asking friends, family and colleagues to sponsor their efforts. Participants included pharmacy student and charity ambassador Michella Quansah, pharmacist and charity ambassador Shilpa Shah, and members of the Royal College of Pharmacy's Retired Pharmacists Team.

Danielle Hunt, chief executive of Pharmacist Support, said: "We're incredibly grateful to everyone who took part in Walk for Wellbeing, and to the many people who sponsored and supported them. The funds raised will help us continue providing vital support to pharmacy professionals and students when they need it most.

"It has also been wonderful to see people come together through walking, make time for their own wellbeing and encourage one another along the way. We hope the conversations and connections created through this year's challenge will continue beyond September."

Shilpa Shah, who used her daily steps to support the challenge, said: "As a profession that spends the majority of its time supporting the health and wellbeing of others, their own health and wellbeing is often overlooked."

Although the September challenge has ended, donations to this year's Walk for Wellbeing campaign remain open.
