Health centre pharmacy dispensing 18,000 monthly items sold

Christie and Co has said it has sold a “high-volume health centre pharmacy” in Swansea that dispenses 18,000 items a month.

Hanford’s Chemist in Llansamlet, which was owned by Patricia Edmunds for more than 26 years before she decided to retire, was bought by regional pharmacy group Overdrake Limited for an undisclosed amount.

“The exceptional interest we received in this business demonstrates that the demand for well-established, high-volume pharmacies continues apace,” said Jonathan Board, director – medical at Christie & Co who handled the sale.

“It’s no secret that there are a number of pressures for operators, including rising costs and wages, yet we continue to receive multiple bids on the majority of the pharmacies we take to market.”
