Practical challenges in oral emergency contraception consultations

The aim of this module is to guide pharmacists on how to deal with the various practical, ethical and legal considerations when supplying oral emergency contraception as part of the Pharmacy Contraception Service. The module covers issues such as conscientious objection, informed consent, as well as safeguarding concerns, and provides examples of how pharmacists might address them.

Objectives

After completing this module, you will have a greater understanding of important considerations when suppling EHC, and how to manage them to ensure you provide an equitable, professional and patient-centred service.

You will also know where to get advice if you have concerns about safeguarding issues, and how to manage repeat requests as well as proxy consultations.
