Asthma Right Care (ARC) is a global initiative led by the International Primary Care Respiratory Group (IPCRG), which uses “social movement” approaches to create a sense of discomfort with current thinking in asthma management, so that people will make changes in what they do. Social movements create change through generating ‘followers’. Examples in the NHS include campaigns such as ‘Hello, my name is…’ and antibiotic guardians.
RightBreathe (rightbreathe.com)
- Already widely used, this website can assist with inhaler technique and medicines management during a NMS intervention or medication review. It is also very good at giving an idea of ICS potencies
- NMS/MCR is a good opportunity to ask patients what they know about asthma. Aids to assist the discussion include diagrams, airway models or videos (see the nhs.uk YouTube channel for a selection of instructional videos and animations).
