After completing this module, you should recognise when symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) may be related to more serious conditions.
Where pharmacy management is appropriate you will be able to explain to patients the nature of the condition and suggest possible solutions. You will be able to give advice on current recommendations regarding dietary and other lifestyle measures that can relieve symptoms of IBS and know how to signpost to relevant resources.
Where a patient wishes to purchase OTC treatments, you should be able to support that person to make appropriate choices.
