A pharmacist who wanted her own pharmacy for years finally realised her ambition after completing a deal to buy one in Nottinghamshire.

Ravi Bansal acquired Manns Pharmacy in Carlton which dispenses an average of 2,800 items a month, according to Christie and Co who brokered the deal. The pharmacy, bought for an undislosed price, had been owned by Gurinder Singh Mann for over 20 years before he decided to retire.

Joe Carden, senior finance consultant at Christie Finance, said they helped Ms Bhansal buy the pharmacy by securing 80 per cent of the purchase price via an unsecured loan.

“Ravi is a very experienced pharmacist and owning a pharmacy had been a goal of hers for some years, so it was a delight to assist her in this purchase,” he said.

Carden said “lender appetite is strong for first-time pharmacy purchasers” but cautioned lenders were looking for “detailed information” before parting with any money.

“The more a lender can understand the applicant, their experience, and how they are going to run the pharmacy, such as what new ideas they’ll implement and how they manage the business day to day, the higher likelihood of approval,” he said.

Ravi Bansal does not appear on the General Pharmaceutical Council's pharmacist register and Independent Community Pharmacist has asked Christie and Co and the GPhC for clarification.
