Celesio UK has won the Every Can Counts Green Can Award following a 12-month programme of recycling and fundraising initiatives.

In just over a year, colleagues at Celesio UK's support centre in Coventry recycled over 7,000 cans, saving enough energy to run a TV for more than two years, or boil a kettle 21,000 times.

To support the launch of its recycling programme, Celesio UK planned an environmental awareness week to increase support for recycling both at home and at work, during which £1,000 was raised for Crow Recycling through a charity raffle.

Amy Billingham, programme panager of Every Can Counts, said: “We were really impressed by Celesio UK’s efforts in can recycling both at home and at work. Partnering with Crow Recycling has enabled them to engage with members of the community through their shared passion of recycling.”

During the environmental awareness week colleagues at the support centre also raised funds for the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust through selling pin badges, a raffle and clothes recycling.

Warwickshire Wildlife Trust’s work includes the protection of wildlife and wild places across Warwickshire, Coventry and Solihull for the benefit of all. The money raised will enable them to continue to maintain and enhance the sixty plus nature reserves for wildlife to flourish and thrive.
