New MS campaign launches

A new campaign has launched to ensure that MS patients receive the essential follow-up services they need.

Focusing on the message, ‘Take control, know your choices’, the 1MSg campaign highlights the benefits of regular engagement with MS specialists in supporting patients to make informed decisions about their care.

The campaign follows a survey commissioned by biotech company Biogen, which found that 93 per cent of specialist MS healthcare professionals believe that some MS sufferers are missing out on vital services.

The survey uncovered various reasons why patients may not access services, such as lack of understanding of the consequences of poor management and the ‘invisibility’ of some of the symptoms.

Del Thomas, MS clinical specialist nurse, said: “Having access to the MS team can make a real difference. We can check that people with MS are managing well and, if not, we can provide additional support. Contact with a specialist can help patients make considered decisions about what is best for them.”

Pharmacy teams can support the 1MSg campaign by signposting MS patients to the new educational website.
