New materials highlight benefits of SCR

The Health & Social Care Information Centre (HSCIC) has developed a series of materials to highlight the benefits of Summary Care Record (SCR) access.

Since the roll-out of SCR access began earlier this year, only around 15 per cent of community pharmacies have gone live.

The new materials created by HSCIC include:

  • A pharmacy case study describing how SCR access works in practice
  • Storyboards giving examples of scenarios in which accessing the SCR could be beneficial
  • Factsheets highlighting key statistics, examples of when to access the SCR and the role of the Privacy Officer.

To access the materials and for more guidance on the SCR visit PSNC

Free training on implementing the SCR, plus a payment of £200 once the pharmacy has gone live, is also available to community pharmacy teams up until 31 March 2017. As training events will only run for a limited period in each area, PSNC is urging pharmacists and pharmacy technicians to avoid missing out on their nearest scheduled event by booking online as soon as possible.
