LloydsPharmacy parent company rebrands as McKesson UK

McKesson's corporate headquarters in San Francisco

Celesio UK, parent company of community pharmacy sector businesses such as LloydsPharmacy and AAH Pharmaceuticals, has been rebranded as McKesson UK, effective Monday November 26.

The company’s customer-facing brands such as AAH and LloydsPharmacy, which has over 1,600 branches, will continue to trade under their existing names. However, in UK-wide communications the business will refer to itself as McKesson UK.

While the McKesson Corporation, which is headquartered in the United States and operates in Europe and North America, has held a majority of publicly owned shares in Celesio AG (parent company of Celesio UK) since 2014, the UK company has continued to operate under its existing brand name until now.

Ceo Toby Anderson said: “We have been part of the McKesson family for over four years now. In the UK, we have to be prepared to meet the evolving needs of patients and care delivery – and now seemed an appropriate time to move to our new brand. The McKesson name is one that resonates particularly with pharmaceutical manufacturers and other strategic partners that we work with.

“However, the millions of patients and customers we see every day in LloydsPharmacy won’t notice any difference and our AAH vans will still deliver to every dispensing point in the country.

“Having a strong, internationally recognised brand will help us to grow our business and continue to make our colleagues proud of where they work.”
