LloydsPharmacy combats tampon tax

LloydsPharmacy has announced that it will reduce the price of its sanitary products by five per cent to cover the cost of VAT for customers.

The price reduction will come into effect from 15 August and will apply to all sanitary products stocked by LloydsPharmacy. Following the likes of Tesco and Waitrose, which have both recently reduced the price of their sanitary products to cut the so-called 'tampon tax', the move means that LloydsPharmacy is the first community pharmacy chain to drop the price of women’s sanitary products and effectively pay the VAT on behalf of its customers.

LloydsPharmacy marketing director Sarah Jezard comments: “We recognise that sanitary items are essential for women and their wellbeing. As a trusted healthcare provider we want to ensure that our customers have better access to the products they need. That’s why we will reduce the price of our sanitary products by 5 per cent to cover the VAT for our customers.”
